Focus and Scope

Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi is an academic journal focused on publishing high-quality research in the field of psychology. The journal's scope covers a wide range of psychological disciplines, both theoretical and applied, aiming to contribute to the advancement of psychological science and its application in various real-world contexts.

The journal welcomes articles in the following areas of psychology, although not limited to these topics:

  1. Industrial and Organizational Psychology

    • Research related to individual and group behavior in organizations, career development, leadership, human resource management, work motivation, organizational culture, and psychological factors affecting job performance and workplace dynamics.
  2. Clinical Psychology

    • Studies focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and therapy of psychological disorders, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and other mental health issues. It also includes psychotherapy approaches and psychological diagnostics.
  3. Consumer Psychology

    • Research on consumer behavior, decision-making processes, consumer perceptions of products and services, as well as the application of psychological principles in marketing and business strategies.
  4. Developmental Psychology

    • Research on human development across the lifespan, from infancy through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. This includes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical aspects of human development in different life stages.
  5. Social Psychology

    • Studies on social interaction, group dynamics, social influence, attitudes, prejudice, social conflicts, and other social issues related to human behavior in social contexts.
  6. Educational Psychology

    • Research on learning processes, motivation in learning, cognitive development in educational settings, and the application of psychology in designing more effective educational policies and practices.
  7. Forensic Psychology

    • Research at the intersection of psychology and law, including psychological assessments of offenders, witnesses, and victims, as well as the role of psychology in legal decision-making and criminal behavior analysis.
  8. Health Psychology

    • Studies on the relationship between mental and physical health, as well as the application of psychological principles in preventing and managing illness, promoting patient well-being, and improving quality of life.

Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi also welcomes interdisciplinary research that integrates psychological approaches with other fields such as sociology, economics, medicine, and computer science, among others.

The journal publishes various types of scientific articles, including original empirical research, literature reviews, conceptual and theoretical papers that contribute to the development and application of psychological theories in diverse contexts.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi must follow Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscripts must fulfill scientific merit or novelty appropriate to the focus and scope of this journal. 

All submitted manuscripts must be free from plagiarism content. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking (please use Turnitin to check the similarity). Editors will also check the similarity of manuscripts in this journal by using Turnitin software.

In the most cases, the submitted manuscripts to this journal will be peer-reviewed by one or two expert reviewers from Peer-Reviewers Team. The reviewers give scientific valuable comments improving the contents of the manuscript. Comments from reviewers will be considered to decide whether the manuscript is accepted, accepted with minor/ major revision, or rejected. Sometimes (if required) a third peer-reviewer is needed to give critical comments to the submitted manuscript. The review process used in this journal is a double-blind review system.

A submitted manuscript is rejected because of some considerations, including: out of scope, lack of scientific merit, significant methodological error, and author’s refusal to revise reviewer’s recommendation without logical rationale.

 

Publication Frequency

Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi is a peer-reviewed academic journal that is published biannually, with two issues released each year in May and November. These regular publication intervals ensure that the journal consistently provides the latest and most relevant research findings in the field of psychology.

By maintaining a schedule of two issues per year, Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi aims to foster a continuous exchange of knowledge and contribute to the ongoing development of psychological science across various subfields.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. there is no charge for downloading content such as pdf and doc.

 

Ethics Publications

This journal contains articles from psychological research in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Consumer Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Social Psychology.

The regulations implemented by the Motiva Journal must be obeyed by all parties, such as the publication process, publisher, editor, reviewer and author.

The code of ethics for scientific publications is based on 3 ethics or rules, namely (i) Title, does not adhere to elements of S.A.R.A (Ethnicity, Religion, Race and Intergroup) and also conflicts in publication management; (ii) Justice, giving author rights to the author; (iii) Honesty, published articles must be free from duplication, fabrication, forgery and plagiarism in publication.

Publishers Responsibility

  1. The publisher of Motiva: Journal of Psychology is responsible for the manuscript provided, after going through the editing, reviewing and checking process based on scientific publication regulations.
  2. Motiva Publishers: Journal of Psychology guarantees freedom for editors and teams to carry out their respective tasks in accordance with their assigned positions.

  3. Publishers are responsible for protecting the security of intellectual property and editorial freedom.

Editors Responsibility

  1. The editor of Motiva: Journal of Psychology is responsible for the selected articles by applying the established publishing regulations
  2. Motiva Editor: Journal of Psychology has the right to decide which manuscripts are suitable for publication. The manuscript must refer to applicable legal requirements regarding regulations not to commit defamation, copyright infringement, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification and plagiarism.

  3. In the process of reviewing and accepting manuscripts, the Motiva: Journal of Psychology editorial team is based on the principle of equal treatment in making decisions to publish manuscripts without distinguishing between race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality or political ideology of the author.

  4. The editor and editorial team of Motiva: Journal of Psychology will not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts or manuscripts except with the author's permission.

  5. Unpublished manuscripts will not be used by the editor for their own purposes and will be returned to the author.

Reviewers Responsibilities

  1. Peer reviewers assist editors in making decisions and through editorial communications that are then conveyed to authors. The assistance provided by peer reviewers concerns the review of text/article content.
  2. Any texts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Manuscripts must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
  3. The peer reviewer is responsible for the recommendations of the texts he/she checks.
  4. The manuscript study is conducted objectively, and supported by clear arguments.
  5. Reviewers are responsible for citations, references, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification and plagiarism of the texts they review.
  6. Reviewers must always maintain the confidentiality of information and not use information from the manuscripts they review for personal gain/interest.

Author's Responsibility

  1. The author writes the results of his thoughts or research clearly, honestly, and without duplication, data fabrication, data falsification and plagiarism.
  2. The author writes every reference used in the text according to the rules of scientific writing.
  3. The author can ensure that the manuscript submitted to the Journal of Police Science has never been published in other media, and has not been sent to another journal.
  4. The author ensures that research activities are carried out in accordance with the code of ethics.
  5. Authors must show references to the opinions and works of others that are quoted.
  6. Authors must write manuscripts ethically, honestly and responsibly, in accordance with applicable scientific writing rules.
  7. When the author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the published text, the author has an obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and work with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
  8. The author does not mind if the text is edited in the review and layout process without changing the substance or main idea of the writing.

 

Plagiarism Checking

To maintain the integrity of the research published in Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi, the editorial team takes plagiarism very seriously. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous plagiarism screening process to ensure the originality of the work and to uphold academic and ethical standards.

  1. Plagiarism Screening Process: The editor will conduct a comprehensive plagiarism check on the manuscript, including the title, abstract, and body text. This screening will be carried out using both manual methods (offline sources, databases) and automated tools such as Turnitin, a widely recognized plagiarism detection software. The purpose of this process is to identify any content that may have been improperly borrowed or replicated from other sources without proper citation.

  2. Types of Plagiarism: The plagiarism check will focus on identifying various types of plagiarism, including but not limited to:

    • Direct plagiarism: Copying text directly from a source without proper citation or quotation marks.
    • Self-plagiarism: Reusing previously published work or parts of it without acknowledgment or permission.
    • Paraphrasing plagiarism: Rewriting someone else’s ideas or work in slightly altered wording, without giving proper credit.
    • Mosaic plagiarism: Combining different pieces of text from multiple sources and presenting them as original work, without citation.
  3. Action on Plagiarism Detection: If the plagiarism check reveals any indication of plagiarism, the editorial board will act immediately. In the case of a minor issue (e.g., improper citation or accidental similarity), the author may be given the opportunity to revise the manuscript and provide proper attribution. However, if significant plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected immediately and the authors will be informed of the decision.

  4. Commitment to Academic Integrity: Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi is committed to promoting high standards of academic integrity. We aim to ensure that all published research is the result of original and honest scholarly work. Plagiarism not only compromises the quality of the research but also damages the trust between researchers, publishers, and the public.

  5. Consequences for Authors: Authors found to have engaged in plagiarism may face disciplinary actions, which may include being banned from submitting future work to the journal or reporting the incident to their affiliated institutions.
