Author Guidelines

Motiva Journal of Psychology is published 2 (two) times a year in May and November. It publishes a broad range of research articles on psychology, both in Indonesian Language and English.

A. GENERAL GUIDELINES
  1. The manuscript submitted is a result of empirical research (quantitative, qualitative, or experimental method) of an actual issue in psychology and its related areas/disciplines
  2. The manuscripts submitted to Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi should be original and have not been published in other journals or have been submitted to other journals.
  3. The author should revise based on feedback from the associate editor within the time limit set by the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board has the right to edit the contents without altering the substance of the content.
  4. References sources are recommended to use the latest publication for the last 10 years. The main references are national and international books and journals. It is also highly recommended to use a reference manager.
  5. Any involved license quotes or using computer software due to preparing the paper becomes the sole responsibility of the author of the article including possible legal consequences that may arise.
  6. The provision of the writing of this journal refers to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association Sixth Edition 2010.
  7. The aim of this journal is to provide a venue for academicians, researchers, and practitioners for publishing original research articles. 
 
 
B. STRUCTURE AND SYSTEMATICAL OF THE MANUSCRIPT
  1. Title. The title of the manuscript should be clear and representative (reflecting the content of the whole manuscript, the employed method, or the raised issue understudy). It may apply an attractive and creative title in order to attract the readers. It has a maximum of 15 words if in Bahasa Indonesia or 10 words in English. It should be typed in all capital letters, center and using Times New Roman font with size 12 and bold.
  1. Author. It must state the full name of the author without title, the full name of the institution of the author’s work/study and its address, and the e-mail of the author
  1. Abstract. Abstract should be written in Indonesian and English. An English abstract comes after an Indonesian abstract. Please translate the abstract of a manuscript written in English into Indonesian. The abstract should summarize the content including the aim of the research, research method, and the results in no more than 250 words. The abstract should be typed in Times New Roman font with size 11 with spacing 1.
  1. Keywords. Each manuscript should have 3 to 5 keywords written under the abstract, separated by (;). The keywords should help the audience search the relevant literature to their interest.
  1. Introduction. The introduction is to describes the background of the problem, the purpose and usefulness of the research, the study of theory and ends with the hypothesis (if any). The background and rationale should be stated according to the theories, evidence, pre-survey, and/or relevant research. It may also contain the narrative operational definition of the main constructs, variables, or terminologies used.
  1. Method. The method comprises the design of the research, population, sample, sampling techniques, procedures, instruments (including the construct, validity, and reliability), data collection tools, and data analysis techniques). The writing style can be adapted according to the research approach used whether quantitative or qualitative.  
  1. Results and Discussion. The results and discussion should be fit according to the research approach. If using a quantitative research approach will consist of descriptive statistics, assumption test results and hypothesis test results should be analyzed diligently. If using a qualitative approach will be in the form of the themes of the results of the qualitative analysis conducted.
  1. Conclusion. The conclusion is the answer to the purpose of the research. It is not a summary of the research results. Conclusions and suggestions should be clear and concisely based on results and discussion.
  1. References. References should be written alphabetically and chronologically. It is recommended to use Mendeley or other reference manager applications. The references are not a bibliography, therefore, it must contain all sources referenced in the scripts and does not need to mention unused sources.

 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
 

Copyright Notice

The copyright of the received article shall be assigned to the journal as the publisher of the journal. The intended copyright includes the right to publish the article in various forms (including reprints). The journal maintains the publishing rights to the published articles.

Motiva: Jurnal Psikologi is an Open Access Journal. The authors who publish the manuscript in this journal agree to the following terms:

Motiva is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. This permits anyone to copy, redistribute, remix, transmit and adapt the work provided the original work and source is appropriately cited.

This means:

  1. Under the CC-BY-SA license, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their article, but authors grant others permission to use the content of publications in Motiva Journal in whole or in part provided that the original work is properly cited. Users (redistributors) of Motiva are required to cite the original source, including the author's names, Motiva as the initial source of publication, year of publication, volume number, issue, and Digital Object Identifier (DOI); when you modify a work with this license, the result must be licensed exactly the same.
  2. Authors grant Motiva the right of first publication. Although authors remain the copyright owner.
